This cruise really helped me to appreciate something about myself! I’m totally oblivious to drama and animosity. But I truly had a WONDERFUL time and I’m going again next year. Hopefully you all will be with me next year! Hmm ITMW sponsored cruise? Sounds good, stay tuned!

A Word of Advice: Keep Classiness Alive, Send your Thanks!

I sat down this morning and decided that I was going to email all the friends that I haven’t talked in a while. I looked through  my address book and started drafting one email at a time to the people I’ve neglected for months. I thought that maybe it was only 3 or 4 people, tops, that I needed to  contact. But after writing email after email I was truly shocked to see that instead of the 3 or 4 I originally though it came out to about 30 people who I’ haven’t kept in contact with. And I’m not even done writing to everyone yet! Why? Email is quick and easy it only takes a seconds to write “how are you ? Been thinking about you” and yet many of us still don’t do it. Don’t even mention writing letters! I haven’t WRITTEN to any one in over 5 years. I don’t write “Thank you” notes for gifts or anything else for that matter. Technology is supposed to make us better and more efficient not lazy. No More! In my efforts to stay proper and not get lazy I’ve figured out that there are certain things that everyone must do and have to truly keep classiness alive and to show the people who care about us that we don’t take their gifts, invitations for outings, etc for granted

Everyone should have:

Stationary/ Blank Cards- These can be personalized with your name or initials or a cute bunny for that matter but make sure that you get something that reflects YOU and your personality.

Thank you Notes/Cards- Again you can get these personalized but you can actually pickup a pack of 10-20 at Wal-mart for $1 or $2

Wax Seal- This is totally optional but if you really wanted to personalize your notes and invitations then add a classy wax seal to all your missives. The person you send it to will know that you really put a lot of time and effort into creating this invite, thank you card, etc and that you truly care!

Greeting Card Software- Optional! You can even take it a step farther and create your own cards with a picture of your family or maybe just of yourself to show that you appreciate them personally.

When to send your Thanks/Greetings/Condolences:

Someone invites you out to dinner party, picnic lunch, breakfast, brunch, gathering etc: Send a thank you card/email telling them how much of a good time you had and thank them for inviting you

Family member passed away: Send your condolences with a nice tasteful card that expresses your sorrow for their loss and that your there for them in their time of nee. Don’t send an email for this one, hand deliver your card or mail it.

Someone gives you a gift: Send then a note/email of thanks and tell them you appreciate that they though of you

You invite someone to a party, bridal or baby shower and they give you a gift: Send/Email them your thanks for the gift and for attending your function.

You have a friend who you truly cherish or did you a favor: Send them a card/email expressing your feelings for them and thank them for being there for you.

If there are people you haven’t been able to contact for a while: If you can’t write to them Please send them an email to tell them your still thinking of them and ask them how their doing! Set aside time to go through your address book every 3 weeks and send out your emails.

I know your probably saying “Cici that’s a lot of work”!. True, but the person who receives it will truly appreciate it, and that’s how you build lasting friendships. These instructions aren’t just for women men need “thank you” cards too (unless they have a wife, then she’ll probably do it for them). But guys be careful how you approach this! My single friend Brian* sent a women a thank you note for a dinner she invited him to and she went crazy and started planning their wedding right then and there. So be careful with this, there’s nothing more attractive than a thoughtful guy its almost like a proposal to some women when you  do something as thoughtful as sending them thanks! So remember to be careful but always Keep it Classy….Keep it moving
